Mary was born on July 29, 1952, in Chicago, IL to Joseph Dyson and Mary Etta Dyson. She was the first in her family to attend college and received an Associates degree from FCCJ. Mary went on to earn a Bachelors of Science from the University of North Florida. She had 3 children, Melody Williams Milledge, Deautrus Dyson (deceased) and Shaunte Renee Wilks.
Mary was a dispatcher at the fire department for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing/knitting, cooking, listening to music, being outdoors, and bingo. She was known for her love of a good time, making people laugh, and calling the family to tell them what show was on. She always took care of others and put people before herself. She was as selfless as they come. Mary or Mae-Mae (as some of the family called her) was the caretaker of almost everyone in her family at some point, known as the “fun aunt” or “nana” she took in a many a member of the family as her own. Anyone that knew Mary knew of her love for Jesus. Her relationship with God was what gave her solace and comfort during the hard times in her life. We find peace in knowing that she is in heaven and now walks with us every day.
Mary had a large family with many siblings which includes Amanda Powell (Deceased), Willie Caesar Dyson (Deceased), Joanne Brewer, Linda Dyson, and Larry Dyson. Her Grandchildren includes Ashley Jackson, Cortney Jackson, Destiny Williams, and Wade Wilks. Her Great granddaughter is Juliet Wilsey.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 2pm.
