Marlene Gribble Barfield, age 87, of Orlando, FL, was called to be with Christ on Friday, May 14, 2021. Marlene was born on August 30, 1933, in Enka, NC and was the daughter of the late Clabus George Gribble and Ella Josephine Gordon Gribble. She was preceded in death by her brother Clabus McQueen Gribble.
Marlene attended Sand Hill High School, Class of 1951 in Enka, NC. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando and Paul’s Disciples Sunday school class and volunteered at the 2nd Chances Resale Shoppe. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Orange County Republican Party.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edwin L. Barfield; children Ellen Yvonne Jordan (Ken) of Austin, TX, Erik Ronald Matheson of Cape Coral, FL; Edwin Gene (KT) Matheson of Mauldin, SC; step-children Ed (Jamee) Barfield of Orlando, FL and Amy (Dale) Kreller of Saint Leonard, MD; brother Rev. Franklin Lucius (Lynn) Gribble of Archdale, NC; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her family expresses their appreciation to her devoted caregiver and dear friend, Nanette Washington, for her love and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Orlando - Henry Chapel, 3000 S. John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL with viewing prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be immediately following at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
