Our personal comedian, jokester and life of the party Marcelino Ariel Diaz Jr.’s life didn’t come to an end at the time of his passing. Marcelino, lovingly known by his friends and family as “Marcy” passed away at the young age of 49 years after having fought courageously to stay with his family six months longer after his accident. Although his life was cut short his family will continue to honor his way of life and honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and keep him alive in the retelling of the numerous stories and adventures of his life.
Marcy was born in Jersey City and raised in Hoboken, N.J. Throughout his career he dabbled in many of his interests including cars, landscaping, building superintendent and most recently a forklift operator at Quikrete. He was known as the “McGuiver” of the family, and was hands on with everything, often building things his own way, whether right or wrong he’d find the “Marcy Way” to do it. ‘Don’t worry about it, I can fix it”.
Marcy had a love for many things including UFC boxing, football, the History Channel and National Geographics. He also had a love of bikes and motorcycles and he loved taking rides both alone or with his wife behind him. He was a member of Wicked Riders and Lost Boyz in N.J. and most recently Lama of Poinciana Fl.
There are so many things one could say about Marcy but I’m sure everyone who knew him would remember him for his genuine, loving and joyful personality. Once Marcy walked into the room you knew the party was about to begin, as he often walked in or greeted you with an, “HOY SE BEBE!!”. He was charismatic and his energy would draw you to him instantly and if it wasn’t his energy it was his laughter.
There was also Marcy the family man. The first born son who though wild always respected and loved his parents and did anything they asked. Marcy the brother, the protector, the support system, the constant when you felt your world was falling apart. There was also Marcy the father, this was the part of life where his heart swelled double in size. Nothing made him prouder or filled his heart with love more than becoming a father. He was so full of care, caution and exercised so much patience. He was also Marcy the fun uncle to his six nieces and nephews, He later found companionship and stability in the love of his life, Sonia and became Marcy the husband. He shared a beautiful 22 love filled years and together they shared four beautiful children that he loved fiercely. They found in each other what many long to find. A relationship built on friendship, trust, mutual respect and a love that will last an eternity in her heart. Lastly but most beautiful to witness was Marcy the grandfather. He was overjoyed and his heart exploded with the outpouring of love he had for his two grandchildren. They were the twinkle that sparkled in his eyes in these past few years.
While he is no longer here with us in the flesh, he is forever present in the hearts of those he left behind. He is survived by his wife Sonia, his children Justin A. Diaz, Nicholas L. Diaz, Marissa A. Diaz, and Cristal Nunez, his grandchildren Leilany Diaz and Dorian Valdez Jr. His parents Marcelino A. Diaz Sr. and Juana M. Genao and siblings Stephanie and David Diaz, and his 3 nieces and three nephews along with many aunts, uncles and cousins and he will be remembered by all of those he loved and touched deeply.
