She was a graduate of Warrensburg State Teachers College, receiving her Teachers Certificate.
Lila was married to Everett T. Smith (deceased) on July 28, 1946.

Lila went back to teaching and became the Principal at Orlando Baptist Temple School. Her last job was working at the Central Florida Sheltered Workshop.
Lila loved to garden and sew; a favorite pastime was making quilts. She would share this talent with her granddaughters, passing it on to the next generations. For over 50 years, she taught Bible to women and children. She was known as a kind, beautiful woman, and, in her words, “I want to share the comfort and love to others the Lord has shown me.”
She had four children: Clifford W. Smith, deceased (wife Vicki) of Jefferson, GA; Irvin L. Smith, deceased of Orlando, FL; Judy “Dee” Hall (husband Terry) of Altamonte Springs, FL; and Keith L. Smith (wife Phyllis) of Winter Garden, FL.
