Lewis Jackman Worrell, Jr., age 93, was born on November 4, 1920 in Decatur, Georgia and passed away February 25, 2014, in Winter Park, Florida surrounded by his children and grand-children . Lewis married the love of his life, the late Mary Catherine Walsh on June 21, 1948. Together they had five children: Lewis Timothy Worrell (wife Patricia), Patricia Jane Wert, Susan Elizabeth Phillips (husband Robert), Kathleen Marie Teel (husband Wade) and Michael Patrick Worrell. Lewis is also survived by nine grand-children: Sean Paul Worrell (wife Christy), Timothy Wert, Brian Phillips, Melissa Teel (fiancé Cale Dubay), Matthew Teel, Christopher Phillips, Michael Teel, Meaghan Teel and Madison Worrell, as well as one great-grandson, Cameron Wert. He was a US Marine Corp Veteran and a WWII (Iwo Jima) survivor. He worked at Martin Marietta for 26 years. He held two US Patents and worked on various projects for the aerospace industry. He also served as a consultant on the project that led to the development of the artificial heart. Lewis enjoyed sailing, woodworking, reading, and above all else spending time with family. Lewis was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a gentleman and a gentle man. He was loved dearly and will forever be in our hearts.
