Joy Hamilton Barton, age 81, of Ocoee, Florida passed away on April 9th, 2024. She was born Joy Beverley Hamilton on August 30th, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Barclay and Helen Hamilton. Joy graduated from Haverford High School and Lankenau School of Nursing in Pennsylvania. She worked 49 years as a pediatric registered nurse, mostly in hospitals, including 32 years at Health Central Hospital Pediatrics Department in Ocoee, Florida. Joy was a supervisor in pediatrics as well as an educator, performance improvement coordinator, and decorator.
She loved animals, especially golden retrievers, her own Dusty, Brandy, Ginger, Roxxi, and Summer; and, she loved working with children. Joy also loved to craft homemade greeting cards for all occasions, and she loved reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barclay and Helen Hamilton of Ocoee, Florida, as well as her brother, Barclay Hamilton Jr. of St. Johns, Florida. She is survived by sons, Matthew Scott Barton (Rene) of Leawood, Kansas and Robert C. Barton “Bobby” of Ocoee, Florida, as well as sister Gay Fricks (Gary) of Leesburg, Florida, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. Services will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. and committal service at 2:00 p.m.
