John Timothy Carney

John Timothy Carney, 88, of Orlando, passed away Friday, April 18. Born in Bradenton, Florida 12/03/1925, son of Carl E. Carney and Helen Mary (Keating) Carney. He is survived by loving wife Catherine, 47 years about whom he said, "Marrying her was the smartest thing I ever did." Also survived by sisters Margaret Ellen Brackney, (Jack), and brother Gerald Carney (Mary) of Brandon, Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters Jean, Infant Mary Therese, and Brothers Robert and Bernard. After serving in the Navy, John entered the Air Force where he achieved his dream of becoming a pilot. His passion for flying continued long after his separation from the service. After graduating from Maryland Law School. He entered private practice, and was a member of the Florida Bar until 2006 when he submitted a petition for retired status at the age of 80. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church Friday 4/25/2014 at 11:00am, 5125 S. Apopka Vineland Road, 32819. Interment will follow with graveside services at Woodlawn Funeral Home. 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida, 34734.
