Heaven gained another angel! After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, Janice Lee Hornyak, 64, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, February 9, 2024, peacefully and surrounded by her family. Janice was born to Edward and Dorothy Milner on May 4, 1959, in Winter Park, Florida. She was the princess of the family of three brothers and, of course, she was the first to join their parents to get all the attention in Heaven.
Janice married Keith Allen Hornyak on June 18, 1983. In 2023, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. She graduated from Tabernacle Christian School and later received an Associate in Arts degree from Valencia Community College. Janice worked as a loan processor at Independent Mortgage and then as a paralegal for the Law Office of Russell F. Bergin. She retired on January 1, 2019.
She had a passion for traveling, and Janice especially loved relaxing under the sea grape trees on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. When she wasn’t traveling, you would find Janice tending to her plumeria garden at home, out by the chicken coop next door visiting with other women in the neighborhood, or in her she-shed where her love for quilting was renewed in 2020.
Janice lived in Clermont most of her life, where she resided until her heavenly home was ready for her. Janice loved her Lord and spread kindness, joy, and laughter to everyone around her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clermont, and she taught school-aged Sunday school classes there for many years.
Janice is survived by her husband, Keith, their children, Lindsey Hornyak and Brandon (Kelly) Hornyak, and two granddaughters Kate and Olivia. In addition to her husband and children, Janice is survived by her brother, Eddy (Charlene) Milner, their daughters Cathryn Milner and Emily (Trevor) Shoemaker as well as their children, Tucker and Theodore; brother Jim (Jamie) Milner, their daughter Jennifer (Cody) Zaleski and their son, Carter; brother Michael (Lynne) Milner, and their sons Adam, Cameron, and Blake; and sister-in-law Valerie Bennett and her daughters Erika (Tray) Anderson and Sara (Joshua) Corder and their son, Titus.
A celebration of Janice’s life service will be held Monday, February 19, 2024. Viewing at 12:00 p.m. followed by service at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, FL.
