James Franklin Wheeler, age 95, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee and raised in Toledo, Ohio. James served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and was a Graphic Artist for General Motors in Detroit, Michigan.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Frank and Emma Christine Hansen Wheeler; brothers, Wayne (Bernadette) Wheeler, Windle (Jeanne) Wheeler; and sister, Anna (Earle) Twyford. He is survived by his sons, James Lance (Patricia) Wheeler, Aaron Farrel Wheeler, and Ashley Brooks (Marianne) Wheeler; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. James is also survived by his wife, Frances Slater of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 PM until the chapel service at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Chaplin Joel Reynolds officiating. Fellowship to follow chapel service at Jennings and Ayers.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida with military honors on October 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Pamela McMillan will be presiding over the services.
Fellowship to follow at the Royal Harbor Club House in Tavares, Florida.
