John “Jack” Davis, 87, of Winter Garden, Florida, passed peacefully on October 14th. The son of the late Glenn Davis and Margaret Klug, Jack was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and spent much of his life residing there.
Jack was a Korean War Veteran in the 36th Branch of the Army Infantry, serving as a Master Chef for his Division. Following his service in the military, Jack was proud to work at Percy Brown & Company as a luncheonette manager and later upon his father’s passing took over working for the late Mrs. Jessie W. Conyngham as domestic chauffeur and personal manager for 27 years. Following his work with Mrs. Conyngham he took a position at C.B.Scott as a Warehouse Manager. Forever being passionate about cooking and food service, when the opportunity arose, he became co-owner of the Parkway Restaurant and catering with his son Glenn Davis.
Jack was married to Bernadine Davis in 1955 and was blessed with four children. He was a well loved community leader, serving for years as Cub Scout Pack Leader #39 at St. Aloysius Church and PTA President at Lee Park Elementary School for numerous years.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine Novakoski Davis and his sister, Dorothy Dell. He is survived by his children; daughter, Jacqueline Mullay, and her husband, Frank, son, Glenn Davis, and his wife, Dionne, daughter, Sandy Tribendis and her husband, Ray, and son William Davis and his wife, Jane. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jennifer Sinston, John Russell Davis, Alexis Mullay-Becker and her husband, Chad, Natalie Tribendis, Colin Davis, and Jessica Davis as well as his great-grandchildren, Kaili and Kendall Becker and Sienna Davis. He is also survived by his niece, Nancy Stansky, and nephews Barry and Wayne Dell.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider making a donation in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in which he was a gracious supporter and organizer of fund drives for many years.
