Howard Gordon Poteet born July 18, 1940, in Pulaski, Tennessee passed from this life on Sunday, June 25, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. He was the only child of Howard Harmon Poteet and Emma Pauline Williams Poteet. Howard is predeceased by his parents, Poteet and Polly, and grandson, James Cameron Saunders. Survivors include his wife of almost 61 years, Betty Poteet, daughters Pamela Poteet Arnold of Anniston, Alabama and Stephanie Poteet Saunders of Hoover, Alabama and grandchildren Andrew Blake Saunders, Briley Alison Saunders and Emma Lynn Arnold.
Howard married the love of his life, Betty Jean Dupree Poteet, on September 2, 1962, in Columbus, Georgia. The couple resided in Pensacola, Florida for their first year of marriage, moving to Orlando, Florida in
1963. Howard had a long and storied career in the Central Florida financial industry. While banking was his livelihood, Howard had a strong love for southern gospel music and antique cars. However, the focus of his attention was always his wife Betty and their two daughters Pamela and Stephanie. Howard will be well-remembered for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, Love of God, friends and family.
A visitation for Howard will be held Friday, June 30, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Concord Street Church of Christ, 626 E Concord Streer, Orlando, FL 32803. A committal service will occur Friday, June 30, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 30, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM at Concord Street of Christ, 626 E Concord Street, Orlando, FL 32803.
