Horace was born in Ellington, GA to Horace Lee Jones, Sr. and Geneva Mae Ward. He grew up in many small towns throughout the South and he was a private in the US Army from 1950 to 1952. In 1953 Horace and his wife, Fran settled in North West Orlando and lived in that area until each of their passing.
He was a repairman for the Bell South Company for 39 plus years and a longtime member and deacon of the Powers Drive Baptist Church.
Horace was a kind and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished his family. He is predeceased by his wife, of 53 years, Sarah Frances (Fran), his son, George Douglas (Dusty), his brother, Tom and sisters, Doris and Nellie Jean (Jimmie).
He is survived by his daughter Donna and her husband William (Jody) Jenkins of Tampa, and his daughter Debbie and her husband, Angelo Suarez. He was known as Papa to many including his six grandchildren; Sarah Jenkins of Ft. Worth, TX, Anna Perez, Anthony Suarez, Ruben Suarez, Jennifer Suarez of Queens, NY, Amee Suarez and his three great grandchildren; Brielle Perez, Skye Rizo of Queens, NY and Leila Suarez.
A visitation will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. The service of remembrance will be directly after at 3pm. All are welcome after the service to the home of Angelo and Debbie Suarez.
