Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through his servant Helen Stansberry Greer who went home to the Lord o November 2, 2021.
Helen Stansberry Greer was born on May 26, 1931, in Lansing, North Carolina. She was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost on September 2, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Orlando, Florida and confirmed the same day. She became a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo, Florida on November 19, 2006.
Helen attended public schools in North Carolina, Maryland, and West Virginia. She also attended nurses training in Abington, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gaither Stansberry and Sybyl Stansberry Miller, her husband, Mack Eller Greer from Boone, North Carolina. She is survived by her son, Chad, and his wife, Susan of Spring, Texas and two grandchildren, Laura of New York, New York and Andrew of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her step-son, Richard Greer, and his wife, Retta, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also a step-daughter, Elizabeth Greer Bare, and her husband, Richard, of Charlotte, North Carolina, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also, a nephew, Terry Owen of Cross Lanes, West Virginia.
Helen was a Registered Nurse for 50 years and spent 30 of them at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida. She was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis Chapter, and member of the Orlando Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She moved to Lutheran Haven in 2006 and has resided there ever since.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 12 in the Chapel at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oviedo, Florida at 1:00 PM.
There will be a private burial Woodlawn Cemetery, Gotha, Florida.
The family request that instead of flowers Memorials be made to Lutheran Haven Foundation, 2041 West State Rd. 426, Oviedo, Florida 32765. In the memo line write in Memory of Helen S. Greer.
