George Washington Kirk, age 88, of Saint Cloud, Florida passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 13, 2020. He was born in Osaka, Virginia (a Coal Mine Town) on January 17, 1932 to William Elmer and Thelma Kirk.
George (known as G.W.) graduated from Appalachia High School and married Margaret R. Ayres on December 24, 1952. They were married for almost 55 years until Margaret's passing on December 3, 2007. He married Nell Kirk on January 3, 2009 and they shared a life together until his passing.
George served his nation in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and then had a career in Telecommunications for Ohio Bell and AT&T Long Lines. He was a member of the AT&T Pioneers (a volunteer network) and First Baptist Church of Kissimmee He had a passion for Jesus, his family, his church, his hometown area of Osaka, Appalachia and Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He also loved gardening, singing ( he had a beautiful baritone voice), reading and tinkering in his workshop because he was very creative.
George is preceded in death by his parents W.E. and Thelma Kirk; his brother Ronnie Kirk and his sister, Wilma Seabolt.
George is survived by his wife, Nell; his children, Karen Kirk and Lisa and Robert Mills. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stacy and John Curry, Dylan Bosch, Sarah Bosch and Samuel Mills; his great grandchildren, Savanna, Laine, Gillian, Griffin, Celeste, Daniel, Taejah; his great great grandchild, Jolene; his stepchildren, David and Sandy Elder, Tammy and Sam Burns.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jimmy and Mattie Kirk, Dannie and Evelyn Kirk and Linda and Chet Tennyson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for George will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Kissimmee, 1700 N John Young Pkwy, Kissimmee, FL 34741. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 17, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1700 N John Young Pkwy, Kissimmee, FL 34741. A committal service will occur Monday, August 17, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
