Our condolences on the loss of your wonderful father.  We are so glad that he was a part of our "yooper family" these many years.  He will be missed.

The Brown family moved next door to our family, in Candelight Park (Sky Lake) in the late 60's or early 70's.  I was in high school at the time so that means that I've known Mr. Colonial Brown for 45 or 46 years.  Amazingly that means that we've been friends for nearly half of his life!  He was the ideal neighbor.  When I was a boy he taught me how to play ping pong and pool.  For the past four years he has been my physical neighbor as I inherited the house I grew up in.  I will miss sitting in his garage talking to him.  I will miss picking blueberries with him. I will miss his fussing at me for not swimming in his pool. I loved and will miss my friend and neighbor more than words can say.

Colonel Brown was my next door neighbor during my high school and college years. He was an inspiration. After my dad died, the Colonel would read the daily newspaper and then place it on the hedge between his home and my parent's house so my mother could read it.  He was a gracious gentleman.

So sorry for you and your family's loss.  My prayers for strength and support.

I barely remember anything prior to the Browns moving into Sky Lake, but I do remember Darrell, "Nancy" and Chuck like family and their parents.  As far back as our family Go-Kart Track and then Nancy and going through school together and graduating together (all of which are great memories).  Nancy, I have never known anyone other than you, that has loved and cared for your dad like you have.  I know he treasured all that you did for him and the love you showed him continually.  That's a blessing he'll treasure for eternity as will you.  Your family is in our prayers, may God bless you all.

My sincerest condolences to the Brown family, and especially to my dear friend Nancy.   Nancy, your Dad was a wonderful man, and father.   His relationship with you, his loving, caring daughter was wonderful to witness, and such a blessing.

A true to life "Officer and a Gentleman".  It was an honor to know Mr. Brown through a longtime friendship with his daughter, Nancy.  He was devoted to his family and his Country. Had a great sense of humor, as seen through his "designer" t-shirts. No matter what his age, he was young at heart and frequently attended concerts and Disney events.
