Ernestine Keron Williams

Ernestine Burrowes, born in New York City in 1924 in Harlem, was a woman of remarkable resilience and unwavering love. Born to Ernest and Mary Burrowes, she embarked on a transformative journey that spanned continents and generations.

At the tender age of 3, Ernestine ventured to Barbados, where she spent her early years under the care of her loving parents. It was there that she welcomed both of her beloved sons Emmerson (Frank) and Edwin into the world, shaping her identity as a devoted mother and nurturing soul.

In 1946, Ernestine returned to the United States, leaving her sons behind temporarily to pursue her dreams. However, her heart remained tethered to her children, and in 1955, she journeyed back to Barbados to reunite with them, cherishing every moment spent together before bringing them back to the U.S. in 1958. They settled together as a loving family at 125 W. 138th Street in Harlem, New York. Ernestine begun embarking on a new chapter of her life with her loving boys by her side filled with determination and purpose.

Her compassion, nurturing vibe and dedication led her to a career as a Nurse's Aide at NY Hospital, where she served tirelessly, offering comfort and care to those in need at the time. Ernestine found the love of her life David Williams in 1960. They loved each other unapologetically for over 60 years. Together, they embraced the values of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge, finding community and solace in their shared beliefs.

In 1979, Ernestine embarked on a new adventure, moving to the Bronx to live above her eldest son, Frank. It was a time marked by family unity and cherished moments spent together.

Upon her retirement in 1990, Ernestine relocated to Orlando, Florida. Where she continued to serve in the Eastern Star . She also found new activities to keep busy, she joined the Barbados Association and St. Mary of Angels Episcopal Church. She always looked forward to attending events,dances and especially singing in the choir.

In her loving memory, Ernestine leaves behind her devoted husband David, son Edwin, as well as her grandsons Ian (Maxi), Jason (Michelle), Pierre (Tamara), Aaron, and Andre (Tasha) granddaughter Alyssa. As well as her beloved great-grandchildren Kayla-Simone, Ayanna, Anaya, Alex, Anthony, and Alijah (AJ). Dearest sister-friend Katherine Devonish.Ernestine is preceded in death by her beloved son Emmerson (Frank) and daughters-in-law Patricia and Arlene.

A visitation for Ernestine will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Angels Episcopal Church, 6316 Matchett Road, Orlando, FL 32809. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 6316 Matchett Road, Orlando, FL 32809. An entombment will occur Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
