Emma Ruth Carey

Emma Ruth Carey, 100, of Sumter, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday February 27, 2018. Mrs. Carey was born in Washington, Indiana on August 11, 1917 to the late John Matthew Horney and Ethel May Steel. Mrs. Carey was an avid traveler who loved airstreams and was still pulling a trailer in her 90’s. Mrs. Carey will be dearly missed by all who and loved her.

Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by her husband’s Francis Joseph Kennedy, Denny Raymond M Clure, and Fred Carey. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jack McClure, brother, Johnnie Ray Horney and sister, Henrietta Percival.

She is survived by her sons, Roy McClure, and Jim McClure, sister, Lucille Reynolds, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Library at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road Gotha, Florida 34734.
