Ed was a ‘good friend’ to many. He always had a big smile and an interesting story to tell that friends and family enjoyed hearing over and over again. It was fun watching his wife, Helen, listen intently and then ask, ‘what happened next’, as if she had never heard the story before.
Edward was born on April 30, 1924 in Petersburg, Illinois. He was a city boy with a farmer’s heart. He lived most of his life in Kansas City, Kansas with his wife and two children on his ‘one-acre farm’, growing crops and raising animals.
Edward and Helen moved to Winter Garden, Florida on Christmas day, 2004. They celebrated 76 years together. Ed followed Helen to their eternal home less than a year after her passing.
Edward loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and labeled himself a ‘neighborhood evangelist’. Strangers seemed to welcome this elderly man knocking on their door, many accepted his message of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Edward’s life history was left with his much-loved family through his stories. He will be deeply missed by all of them: his son Edward Neely and wife Nancy, daughter Linda and husband Gary Myers.
His granddaughters: Genna Neely, Dawn Floyd (and Mark), Heather Terry (and Jon), and Amber Bauer (and Heath). By his great-grandchildren and their families: Haley Howard (Tyler), Landon Floyd (Alyssa), Mikaela Starke (Jack), Alexis Ryan (Sean), Parker Cole Terry, Bodie Terry, Collin Bauer (Marie), McKenzie and Capri Bauer; and their great, great-grandson son, Brady Starke.
Edward’s life will be celebrated on March 5th at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, Florida 34734
