She was born in Chrisney, Indiana on June 12, 1923, to the late Sherman and Irene Herren.
Edna met her husband, Albert (Johnny) L. Johnston at Howard Roosa grade school in Evansville, Indiana. Edna was in the 6th grade!
They were married on December 12, 1941. Edna and Johnny had four boys and they were named Gary, Larry, Terry, and Berry!
In addition to raising her four boys, Edna worked as the bookkeeper for the family business. For many of those same years she was a volunteer leader in the youth ministries of her church. She knew how to throw a party! "Her kids" would talk about her youth parties for years. In her later years, she loved being a greeter at her church.
Edna loved to cook. Her fried chicken, fish, and pork chops were family favorites. On many holidays she would bake many plates of candy, cookies, and fudge. Of course, everything had to be from "scratch".
Edna was a devoted Christ-follower. She loved reading the Bible and sharing what she read. She believed attending church on Sunday was a high priority and privilege. She devoted her life to prayer and to encouraging others in their faith.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; Brother, Paul and Sister, Velma; her husband, Albert; and her sons, Gary and Terry.
She is survived by her sons: Larry Johnston (Sherry) and Berry Johnston (Katherine); Grandsons: Rick Johnston, Matthew Johnston, Luke Johnston, Kevin Johnston and Mark Johnston; Granddaughters: Christy Burrows and Amrah Massave; Great Grandsons: Ethan Johnston, Callen Burrows and Mason Johnston; Great Granddaughter: Brooklyn Burrows.
