Edmund T. Austin, age 90, of Orlando, Florida, passed away July 13, 2020. He was born in New York, NY on October 6, 1929, to Harold Austin and Lottie Shurland. He served in the United States Air Force from November 1, 1948 to August 27, 1952. He was married to Hazel Austin on October 2, 1954. He eventually went on to earn his Master of Science degree in social work from Columbia University in 1967. He earned the title of Certified Social Worker in 1968 from The University of The State of New York. He worked in the field of social work for the City of New York, and also served as a director of several homeless shelters before retiring in 1989. Edmund and Hazel moved to Florida in 1989 where he had been residing until his passing. Edmund loved to cruise, he enjoyed a number of different hobbies, one of his favourites was building remote control airplanes. He is survived by his children; Sharon Austin and Stewart Austin, his grandchildren, Alysa and Mychal Austin, and his nieces Jeanette McPherson, Diane Austin, and Carol Chisholm.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 4:00 PM - 7:00pm at the Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd., Gotha, FL. 34734.
