Edith F. Ayers enjoyed a full 85 years with us, imparting advice, showing love and kindness and most of all being the beautiful and strong leader of the (our) family. Her and Granddad, Randall Ayers worked to create a home for their four daughters, Vicki Nelsen, Brenda Ayers, Fran Freed and Sherry Boydston.
Edith, (Mom’s) story began on March 18, 1927 when she came into this world in Harriman Tennessee, to Sherman and Willie Bradshaw. Throughout her years she traveled the world with Randy, she danced her way through life, and enjoyed a large family that she helped grow. Her and Randy showed off their moves on the dance floor every chance they got. Edith loved music and loved to dance to its rhythms.
Moving around a lot due to the military lifestyle Edith (Mom) made every house a home for her daughters, and enjoyed making them fried chicken. She learned to manage a home as well as the busy Records Department of Orange County as they settled down in Orlando later on in life. Edith and Randy could be found traveling from one point of the world to another, going to Hawaii, Alaska and many other places. They both wanted to see the world and to hit the dance floor of each new place.
She had an appreciation and love for making things. Edith crafted beautiful ceramic figurines, created ceramic winter scenes, animals and beautiful things that brought life and color into your home. Her quilts were another labor of love. Edith poured over every detail of the quilts to make them perfect and gave them to all of us in the family.
She held strong to the end and made us all realize just how steadfast she was. With Edith’s guidance and care, love and patience, her large family of 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren grew and remained close. Today we will grieve her, tomorrow we will miss her but from today on her love and kindness will be survived in her (our) family, and she will live forever.
