Dorothy was born April 12, 1922 in Wabeno, Wisconsin. Dorothy moved to Orlando in 1955 and is retired from Walt Disney World. Dorothy was a life time member of the Bromeliad Society, a member of the Golden Ears Club and a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Dorothy attended a one room schoolhouse for the first few years of school. After high school she moved to Chicago where she met her husband of 65 years while working at Jefferson Electric. During WWII Dorothy helped to build airplanes at Douglas Aircraft. Due to her small size she was able to crawl into the wings and rivet them. This gave her the nick name of Dottie the Riveter. Dorothy grew beautiful Bromeliads for which she won many awards including Best in Show.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Ed and is survived by her four children, Patricia, Daniel, Timothy and Teresa; six grand children, Dana, Jake, Nicole, Holly, Na’tia and Cody; and three great grandchildren Natalie, Taylor and Christopher.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 E. Anderson St., Orlando, Florida Phone number 407-293-1361.
