David was born in Nashville, TN, son of the late R. Lee and Myra Baker Conway. He was an Industrial Engineering graduate of the University of Buffalo. He was recruited at graduation by IBM and began his career in 1963 at their headquarters in Armonk, NY. David had an illustrious career winning awards for his designs and traveling around the world teaching the program he developed to cut manpower in industry. One of his career highlights was the two years spent working in Paris. IBM moved his family to Garches, a small town about 20 miles outside of Paris. David’s wife, Bev, enjoyed sightseeing, dining, and shopping in Paris. Their youngest son, Michael attended grade school in France and their son, Lee had the advantage of going to an American high school in Majorca, Spain. Bev and David’s other children enjoyed visiting France during his time working in Paris.
David is survived by 4 children: Linda Keenan (Bob) of The Villages, FL; Diane Conway and her companion Dennis of The Villages, FL; Thomas Conway (Sue) of Midlothian, VA; and Lee Conway (Lisa) of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his son, Michael. He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret Conway Brand.
Funeral services will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 400 Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734; on 11/18/21 from 4 to 6 PM. Interment will be private. Anyone wishing to contribute to the memory of David Conway may donate to:
