Daphenie Rose Morgan (born Daphenie Rose Baker) was born to Charlotte Roberta Baker & Cecil Nathaniel Baker in Chevely, Manchester, Jamaica, W.I. on November 12th, 1930. She received her standard education at what was then called Hatfield All Ages. Daphenie would later give birth to her daughter, Marcia, in 1958.
She immigrated to Bronx, New York, USA around early 1960s to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her work ethics served her well until retirement. While working, Daphenie resided with the Chambers family and later with her niece, Evrille Hill. They were also her close relatives.
In April of 1972, Daphenie married Arthur Morgan back in Kingston, Jamaica. They did not have children of their own, but their relatives quickly bonded and became a loving, blended family.
In the 1990s, Daphenie & Arthur relocated to Orlando, FL where they both intended on enjoying their retirement. For leisure, Daphenie would slip away to the Casinos still being wise in the way she spends her money, while enjoying the accompanying atmosphere.
She spent time with her grandchildren going on school field trips, attending recitals, and more. Daphenie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and baking. She could easily and effortlessly crochet a blanket for each room of the house.
She was passionate about sharing. During Christmas, she would bake her famous rum cake, which she shared with family, friends, co-workers, church family, and neighbors. Her church family and friends knew that whenever she prepared a dish for an occasion, it was made with an abundance of love.
Daphenie was well known throughout her family and friends alike as “Aunt Daphenie”. She was a compassionate being; her energy was that of comfort and tranquility. In Daphenie’s presence, you felt an immediate sense of ease. Her home was open to anyone; she always had something to give, which she thoroughly enjoyed sowing into the lives of others. Just as her middle name Rose, she represented beauty and love, graciously embracing and accepting everyone.
On August 16th, 2023, Daphenie was peacefully called home. She was the youngest of her brothers and sisters who passed on years prior. She is now survived by her husband Arthur, daughter Marcia, grandchildren Navon & Alyssa, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be graciously missed. May her Soul rest in peace.
