At the age of 19 Pearly married the love of her life, Wilfred Prince. Their union bore six children, all of which became the center of her world. In 1970, Pearly courageously migrated to the United States to join her husband, and the couple resided in Brooklyn, NY with their children. She was excited to see what great opportunities this country would bring her family.
Pearly earned her first job as a custodian for Metropolitan Life in Manhattan, NY, where she worked for four years. Being the zealous and compassionate woman she was, she later embarked on a new path and became a nurse’s aide. She worked in this profession until she retired in 1993. However, Pearly was still very busy with grandchildren; she was now the babysitter!! At least, on her own terms, because Pearly had another passion. Her love for Trinidad was indescribable. Each year she spent an extensive amount of time in her beloved homeland, or as she would call it “the place that kept her young”; this she did until she was no longer able to travel.
Pearly’s heart was immeasurable. She was always willing to lend her family and friends a helping hand, and altruistically opened her doors to so many of her nieces and nephews. In short, her contagious smile and genuine embrace was always felt. Her love not only touched the hearts of her family, but also transcended into her plants and flowers. Everything she touched came to life.
Pearly was summoned by God’s heavenly angels on Sunday, March 7, 2021—surrounded by her family and in the comfort of her home in Orlando, Florida—and is now in a peaceful embrace with her mother, father, brother Vernon Marchan and beloved son Junior. She is survived by her husband, Wilfred Prince; five children, Jerome, Julien, Jenny, Judy and Joy; ten grandchildren, Nicole, Sacha, Vanessa, Monique, Jade, Sheri, Justin, Gabriella, Lauren and Jordan; nine great-grandchildren, Riley, Jayden, Marley, Zoe, Ethan, Hailey, Tori, Hudson and Bellamy; sister Gloria Roach of Canada; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sonny and Elsie Prince; daughter-in-law’s Judy Prince and Jillian Prince; nephews Andy, Anthony and Clayton Roach; nieces Peggy Gilbert and Michelle Roach; special friends Bobby Samuel and Shelford Humphrey; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
