Colleen Fleming

Colleen Fleming (nee Mulligan), 68, formally of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away May 06, 2020. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona on July 04, 1951. Colleen attended James B. Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, IL and University of Phoenix Online.

She married her high school sweetheart, Pete Fleming on August 16, 1968 and raised three beautiful daughters; Cindy (Joe) Holda, Colette Fleming and Jen (Greg) Jones.

Colleen enjoyed a long, successful career in the Real Estate industry. She worked as a licensed agent for 38 years, working as a Sales Manager for Coldwell Banker and Prudential Preferred Properties and owned Prudential Grand Realty in Gurnee, IL. She held the Illinois Real Estate Salesman, Illinois Real Estate Broker, Graduate of Real Estate Institute (GRI), Wisconsin Real Estate Broker, and Financial Consultant licenses. She earned numerous Top Sales, Top Listings and Million Dollar Club Awards. Colleen later became an Insurance Financial Consultant for Axa-Advisors in 2009, earning several additional licenses and was working on completing her five-year Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

She served as a Women’s Board Member for the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and enjoyed organizing their annual fundraising events. Her passion for planning and hosting unique and memorable gatherings for business associates, family and friends always made everyone feel loved and welcomed.

She is survived by her husband and daughters, as well as her grandchildren Emily (Freddy) Coba, Nathan Holda, Benjamin Holda, and Sarah Holda, whom she loved very much. She was very blessed to see them grow up and she cherished spending time with each one of them.

She treasured her brother Terry (Jackie) Mulligan, sisters Mary Yaskin and Pat (Mike) Hurt and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, John W. Mulligan and Nancy (Bottle) and her in-laws, Raymond A. Fleming II and Anne (Kullowitsch), whom she adored.

Colleen never lost her battle with colon cancer because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was unyielding in her struggle. When anyone else would have broken, Colleen stayed strong, and through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. She “fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7) with abounding grace and dignity. There was no quit in Colleen; just because she is no longer with us doesn’t mean she was defeated. She has found victory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, or a cancer charity of your choice, or the Compassionate Care Hospice Amedisys of Minneola.
