Dear Charlie, not a day goes by that I don’t think of you and our shared life together.  I will always love you and I miss you. We will be reunited someday until then keep watching over our growing family. So wished you could have met our latest two Kennedy and Sophie they would have had you wrapped around their little fingers. You would be so proud of your sons Jadon, Kyle and Aaron. Also your daughter n laws Hye Jung and Candace. Our Grandchildren you were blessed to be with before you left us Patrick, Megan and Brandon you would be so proud of they are doing extremely well. You met Mac and now Rosco is with you our wonderful fur babies. I know your with your Mom, Dad, Sister Aileen, Nephew Kevin and my Mom, Dad and other family members and keep heaven and those angels entertained. Your family loves and misses you. I know that January 31, 2015 was one year that you left us to enter the kingdom of Heaven with God.  It has taken me this long to be able to write how much you still mean to all of us and how  much your so missed.  You will live on in the hearts of all of us and your stories will be continued to be told generation after generation.  I know that we will be reunited in heaven and there will be no pain or sorrow there.  I know your looking after all of us and your there with ones that have gone before.  Not a day goes by that I don't think about you Charlie and not a day will until I have no life in me.  I learned a lot from you and treasure all the good days that we shared.  The bad ones seem so unimportant anymore and can just laugh those off.  You were a good man and you have a lot of love in your heart for me, our sons, our grandchildren, our families and friends.  Until we meet again Charlie know that you are with me in spirit every single day. Our bond will never be broken and our love for one another will always be strong no matter if we are apart. I felt you with my on my birthday I know you were holding my hand.

I am Aaron McNulty the youngest of Charlie's, three sons. Brandon McNulty is my son and the youngest of Charlie's three grandchildren. My father was truly an amazing, caring and all around awesome person. My Dad was just not my father he was my idol as I always looked up to him and wanted to be just like him. He was my mentor. Everything from trucks to motorcycles to women my father was always there for me to help me make the right decision. Most importantly though my Dad was my best friend. I could go to him for anything knowing he would not steer me in the wrong direction. We shared the same hobbies including Ford trucks, classic cars, motorcycles and anything that had wheel or an engine. My Dad would do anything for his son's or grandchildren. I know this first hand. After a surgery, I became addicted to pills and got into some serious trouble and was facing some serious charges.  My father did everything to save my life and the life of his grandson Brandon. Dad put up his hard earned retirement to save me with the best lawyer money could buy. Had my father not been there for me I would be a changed and broken man. I wake up everyday thanking my Dad for what he did for me. Sure my dad was a little rough around the edges at times and did not like change but inside he had a huge very loving and caring heart. From a very young age I knew I had a father who really loved me and cared about me. I remember everything I did as a child was to make him proud. That look on his face and the huge hug he gave me when my Pop Warner Football team won the championship game with me scoring the game winning touchdown was priceless. I still to this day want nothing more than to make my Dad proud of me. He taught me to always take pride in what you do. Always give 100%. He instilled that in all of his children and grandchildren and a young age. My Dad was very old school and had some strict rules. We as kids sometimes thought he was a little over the top but as adulthood we realized he just truly wanted the best for his son's. He worked his butt off at the plant and would come home so tired from working third shift but would take time to play with me before school. Sometimes he would pickup donuts and Jason, Kyle and I loved when he did that.  I will never forget not just what my Dad did for me but also what he did for my son Brandon too. I had Brandon at a very young age and did not have much money. So at times I could not afford to put Brandon in daycare when he was not in school.  My Dad was always there to watch Brandon while I had to work. Dad loved keeping Brandon and taught him many things. Brandon and his PaPa shared a very special bond. They were both Nascar fans. Dad passed his love of Ford's down to Brandon as well. To this day Brandon still knows every driver and their number in Nascar. Most importantly he knows only to cheer for drivers that are racing Fords. Dad passed that tradition down as well. So we will carry on Dads traditions Faith, Family, and Ford. There is a saying that goes "to live in the hearts that we leave behind in not to die" that being said Dad, you have not died as you will always live in our hearts. I will never get over the fact you are gone Dad. Life will never be the same without your guidance I know you are always with and Brandon and are watching over us so I know you are never to far away. Until the day we meet again Dad we all miss you very dearly.  I love you with every inch of my heart and soul and will never forget everything you did for me and Brandon. Rest in peace father.

There is no way that I can summarize how much my father, Charles McNulty, has impacted my life.  He was there for me whenever I needed him, and that fact was a comfort that I will dearly miss. I'll miss so many things about my father, his laugh, his advice, his sense of humor, etc.  However, I will forever remember the things that he strived to instill in me.  I will work to be the type of man that he wanted: one that is thoughtful in everything that he does.  Whether I am doing something as simple as household chores or something as important as raising a family, I will remember my Dad's words: "If it's worth doing, then it's worth doing right."  I am so proud of my father for living his life that way until the very end.  I hope that when we meet again some day that I can look him in the eyes and tell him "I did it right Pop."  I love you Dad, and will remember you always.  Thank you for all that you did for me. Rest in peace.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about my father, Charles McNulty.  I miss stopping by the house on my way home after work and having conversations, or the conversations whenever visiting each other's homes or on the phone.  I miss the confidence and comfort in his voice.  I miss his jokes and his contagious laugh.  I miss his advice, worldly event updates, and expertise and guidance with mechanics and home repairs. I miss seeing the joy in his face when visiting with his grandchildren and at family get togethers during certain occasions and holidays.  I love and miss him dearly every day.  Thanks to my father, I never once experienced hearing the word "step," which speaks volumes of his character.  I also thank my father for preparing me for life's challenges and instilling discipline, integrity, loyalty, personal courage, and mental toughness in me, as I would not of made it through my harsh combat experiences and other difficult challenges in life as well as I did without these things that my father instilled in me.  My father believed in being your own man and standing up for whatever you hold true and believe in, and I carry on these characteristics with me.  Remembering his words and guidance, transformed into my beliefs and character that he helped create and build keeps me motivated to do my best in all I do and to continue to excel in my life, personally and professionally.  Until we meet again when I enter the same chapter of life after death, not a day will go by that I won't think of him and be appreciative of the time we did have and for him being in my life.  May he rest in peace.

I regret that as one of the younger McSweeney cousins, I didn't get to know Charlie better. Over the past couple of months as he shared his health struggles, I was constantly amazed at his strength and determination as he battled cancer. Quick with a quip, Charlie's sense of humor made us all smile. What a wonderful scene playing out in heaven....Grandpa and Grandma, Charlie's Dad, Aileen and all of the aunts and uncles together again....rest easy Charlie, you are one of-a-kind.

I have many great memories of my younger brother and all the trouble we would get into. One is when we were about twelve years old and we were snooping around to see what we got for Christmas. Mom and Dad had just left to go grocery shopping, we figured now was our chance! We got the ladder out and up into the opening in the hallway. Once up in the attic, we could not believe our eyes! We had hit the motherload! There were all the gifts  right before our eyes. We must have gotten a little carried away checking things out, before we knew it we heard Mom & Dad's voices! Panic time! Quick as a wink, Charlie was down the ladder and moved it, before I had a chance to get down!! I'm sure I thanked him for that one! He used to like to make me laugh when I was mad at him. I must admit, he usually was able to do it. He'll always be a part of me. I miss you, Charlie. What a happy day when we all together again!

It is hard to put into words but my heart aches for each and every one of you with the loss of your beloved Charlie. My recent bantering back and forth on FB w Charlie was so indicative of the man all of you were so lucky to have known!!! He used his courage and great sense of humor during his illness to make light of what he had to experience and endure.  I know he has a special place in heaven and in all our hearts and minds. God Bless You Cousin!!

As Aaron's girlfriend i got to spend quite a bit of time with Charlie over the past four years. He was a good man with a stong heart, and a "blunt" sense of humor to say the least. My favorite story of him was when he and Barbara were younger hanging out, and playing old records. A friend of theirs made a song request and sarcasticly dad responded " oh you like that song? too bad!" as he tossed the record and laughed. Its still hard to believe your gone, but you taught us all to be stong...IRISH strong and together, eventually we will get through. Im so thankful that you are in a better place..gone home to the kingdom of heaven. We'll meet you there one day dad, save me some coffee. Love, Chelsea

Charlie is in my earliest memories.  The big brother who somehow coaxed Mom and Dad to let us play barefoot in the pouring rain, up and down the street, with the biggest splashes their own reward. The big brother who every school day, year after year, magically converted a cramped ride in a "lemon" of a station wagon to St. Charles School with six kids and a very stressed Mom, into a hilarious and irreverent party.  At age 10, he was the builder of the best fort ever made in the neighborhood, made from scrap lumber he scavenged and hauled by wagon for miles. Flash forward to the passing of Dad and sister Aileen eight years ago, and the terrific challenges facing his own family during the last several years, and Charlie was the great supporter and consoler to all his family in their times of need, despite his own devastating illnesses and personal challenges.  And Charlie felt the losses and near losses very deeply.  My brother Charlie wasn't perfect, none of us are, but nobody walked in his shoes and suffered through his incredible life challenges and came out swinging like he did.  As Maureen quoted, he "did not go gently into that good night."  That makes him a hero to our family.  Rest peacefully at last Charlie, you are admired for all you did for us, and we love you.

With the boundless authority conferred by God on older brothers, Charlie said to me one day, “Your name is Mud.” I was maybe four at the time, busy making mud pies and pretty liberally covered in my artistic medium. Ever after, I was Mud.

Things happened when Charlie was around. Life's volume was amped up. He was talking a blue streak, so fast the words were falling over each other as he gesticulated wildly, interrupting himself with that short, infectious laugh. Charlie telling his stories. You had to laugh. Or be outraged (Charlie had a special patent on outrage). Or be whatever it was that Charlie wanted you to be. Because he was just a force of nature, and that's the way it was.

Okay, I'm going to channel Charlie for a minute. This goes out to anyone who's crying or even thinking about crying right now: “What the hell is WRONG with you people?” And you know exactly how he would sound as he says that, too.
 
Because Charlie is still here, will always be here, with us. We'll carry him around inside us, where he'll go on muttering under his breath, surprising us with laughter, egging us on in deeds both wise and misguided.

I believe that the last time I saw my cousin Charlie he was probably 15 and I was a few years younger. He had come along with his brothers and sisters and his Mom & Dad to visit us at our home in Connecticut. We spent a memorable day playing yard games and cooking on the grill. I regret that I did not know Charlie as an adult, because based on everyone's description of him I am sure we would have gotten on well together. The McSweeney clan is close however and despite the miles that separated us, and like my other cousins, Charlie was never far from my mind or heart. I enjoyed looking at the wonderful pictures of Charlie and his family on the slide show.
My sincere condolences to Barbara, Jason, Kyle, Aaron, my Aunt Catherine and Charlie's brothers and sisters.
I am reminded that our Grandmother Mary(McNamara) McSweeney used to say that R.I.P. stood for "Return If Possible". R.I.P. my dear cousin.

My cousin Charlie was a strong-willed man with a strong set of principles. God help anyone that stood between him and his love for motorcycles or cars! When he was old enough to own a motorcycle, there was no denying him! Once his father passed, Charlie, as the oldest son, felt a great responsibility to the family and adopted the patriarchal role. Growing up, Charlie was my "coolest" cousin. He still is, always will be. God Bless You, Charlie.

When thinking of Charlie,  my mind will always leap to the character Rhett Butler, from the legendary movie, “Gone with the Wind”.  And you can see why looking at  his  picture while wearing the tuxedo.  He was standing atop the stairs outside of the church his brother was married in. Very majestic looking with a devilish half smile, staring out into the distance with that faraway gleam in his eye,  ready for mischief of one kind or another. Or cause a little mischief himself. 
Charlie was a great friend to me during the sorrowful days following his sister and my dear Cousin Aileen's death. He emailed comforting words, shared memories and pictures of Aileen's grave site, and never tired of the times I wrote how much I missed her. I still miss her! Charlie is with Aileen, this I know. This brings me comfort. On Facebook, Charlie was just so funny with his postings and comments.  I loved his sense of humor and quick wit. Every day in every way, forever and ever after there'll never be another like him to me.  I will never forget the time Charlie made Grandma McSweeney's Irish soda bread on St. Patrick's Day one year on a dare with me that he couldn't. He took a picture of Aunt Catherine at the table with the fresh baked Irish bread and a cuppa tea. Aunt Catherine had a big smile on her face, she knew this was a  very special occasion. The caption on the picture “ there now girl, you happy now”…LOL. So funny in that voice he used! Charlie was a Patriot, but not the NFL team fan like me, which was another reason for us to send comments back and forth, !!!   Charlie honored and respected our Troops!!  He was so proud of me and his son Jason's Military Service in the World's Greatest Military! It was an allegiance that we shared, as many of his family and friends do. Charlie loved America,  supported legal immigration and was God fearing on his own terms with the Lord. Anything less, was fighting words. Charlie was a southern gentleman – a humble man who worked hard, and loved his family. I admired, respected and loved him dearly.  I will miss him so very much.  In summary, may I include the caption that reminds me of Charlie's true gift to me over all these many years…  Friendship………

i just heard about charlie this morning or i would have come to say "good-bye". i worked with charlie for many years and we had a lot in common. my sympathy to his whole family and loved ones. so sorry about your huge loss.  sincerely, kenny lake

So sad to hear of my cousin's passing but being around his wife, children and family, you could see his light shining through them.   It was a beautiful memorial today.   I enjoyed seeing my family and meeting all my second cousins.   Look forward to seeing you all again.  May Charlie rest in peace.   Irish strong!

Charlie was a simple man who loved his wife Barbara more than all the stars in the night sky. His sons Jason, Kyle and Aaron were his greatest accomplishments. The bonds he shared with his grandchildren Patrick, Magan and Brandon are untouchable. Charlies smile lit up the room and his laugh, one couldn't resist laughing along with him. Cherished memories will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved Charlie. May he watch over and embrace his family and friends in their darkest hours, finding a way to comfort them and bring them peace. We don't say "goodbye" just a "see ya later" for we'll all be together again.

When I was real young I remember having a natural fear of my stern Uncle Charlie. That subsided as I got a little older, playing in the backyard at Grandma's and listening to him joke around in the kitchen while taste testing the food. That fear developed into a profound respect for Uncle Charlie after words of encourgement when I joined the Army and recently listening to how proud he is of all his boys.
 My love and prayers to Barbara, Jason, Kyle, Aaron and all of the the McNulty's.

Charlie, my brother, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Charlie always loved cars and motorcycles and passed that on to his three boys. I enjoyed seeing the pride he took in his sons as they became so skilled on the off-road bikes after his enthusiastic coaching.                                  Charlie was the oldest of three boys, the "rebel" of our family, who grew his hair long and always had the fastest and coolest car. I credit Charlie with inventing the man-cave (at least the first one I ever knew) when he put up a partition in the family garage and created his own pad. He always kept us laughing at get-togethers with funny family anecdotes from the past. He poked fun at his brothers and sisters, but you knew he had a heart of gold and would be there to help any of us when needed.                                 Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Barbara, Jason, Kyle and Aaron and all other family and friends who knew our Charlie. We will love and miss him forever. God bless him.

Charlie was a treasure to me. I always remember that unique laugh he had that just insisted that you laugh along with him. He loved to share his joy with others. This is the quality that endeared him to so many of us.
When we were kids, as his older sister, I sometimes felt the responsibility to steer Charlie in the right direction. During these talks Charlie listened attentively to me, thereby exhibiting great respect and a maturity beyond his years. These qualities endeared him to me even more.
Our childhood bond was activated once again when my own Walter passed away. Nobody could comfort me like my dear brother Charlie. He was like a sponge soaking up grief and vulnerability and helping me to heal. He was there for me when I needed him. I'll always be grateful for having Charlie in my life.

So sorry to hear about Charlie's passing. his family is in my prayers , I worked at  Inland from 1980 to 2009.  he was a good guy..a lot of us shared the Nascar  races and drivers  He will be greatly missed.God be with all of his family and friends at this time of sorrow..friend in Christ  Gladys Warren
