Robert Lee Collie, lovingly known as "Pop Collie," passed away peacefully at the age of 99 surrounded by his family. Born on October 10, 1925, in Lake Worth, Florida to Buren E. Collie and Mary Long Collie, Bob lived a life filled with love, service, and innovation.
A proud veteran, Bob served as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II, demonstrating courage and dedication to his country. After the war, he pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida, where he met the love of his life, Marie Collie. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 73 wonderful years of marriage.
Bob's passion for engineering and innovation led to an illustrious career, during which he earned several patents that reflected his creativity and ingenuity. But beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was known for his boundless generosity. Whether lending a helping hand to a neighbor, supporting family and friends, or being a steady presence for those who needed him, Bob's kindness knew no bounds.
A lifelong Gator, Bob bled orange and blue and took great pride in his alma mater. He also cherished time spent with his growing family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; his children, Kaye Collie, Bob Collie, and Donna Collie; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Frazier. His legacy of love, humor, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A graveside memorial celebration for Bob will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734.
