Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Nurse and Volunteer were some of the responsibilities taken on by Aileen Holden and she carried them out as an example of kindness with self-deprecating humor.
Aileen Graham Holden, 94, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away March 3, 2021.
She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on November 16, 1926.
Aileen graduated from High School in Alabama and attended St. Vincent’s Nursing School, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse and later entered the United States Air Force as an Air Force Flight Nurse.
She married Leo Francis Holden on January 4, 1954. Leo and Aileen were both in the Air Force when they met but both could not stay in the service. Aileen left her military career but travelled the Air Force life and they had four children on the journey.
She returned to nursing as a Med-Surgery Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Orlando Florida and worked in the Emergency Room Delivery Rooms with a special team of dedicated caregivers and life savers.
In retirement she travelled to places around the world, listened to Jazz and enjoyed her neighbors and “Friends of Lake Bell”. She was a volunteer at Brother’s Keeper and Ronald McDonald’s House, volunteering well into her late eighties. Her joy and strong reason for long life has been watching the growth and accomplishments of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren
She was survived by her four children: Christopher Holden, Michael Holden, Sheila Lealaitafea and Monica Kinas and her 12 Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.
Cremation Service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida and a Celebration of life is being planned to honor Aileen in the future that addresses the current COVID-19 conditions and the time it takes to prepare a great party that she would enjoy attending.
