Rev. Carlyle Clifford Wright, age 74, died January 21, 2017 after a brief stay at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona. Carlyle, a lifelong minister of the Gospel, is survived by his children; Jim Wright, Kimberly Kidd, and Natalie Makujina, as well as his sister, Kay Thompson. He has six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Carlyle was born September 26, 1942, to Minnie Kay and Carlyle Carson Wright, in Houston, Texas. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at age nine, and after a brief career as an amateur middleweight boxer, he dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel. Along with pastoring several Baptist churches, including First Baptist Church of West Point, California, Carlyle also served over 15 years at Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston, Texas. He was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from Howard Payne University and a Master’s Degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Always willing to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those he met, Carlyle served faithfully at soup kitchens and homeless shelters during the holiday seasons. More recently, he spent his leisure time at Starbucks where he had many friends and was a faithful patron. Carlyle will be remembered as a hard worker, a loving father, and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
