Born on September 5, 1934, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Gene was the eldest of three children born to the late Alfred and Betty (Osborne) Gaddis. Known affectionately as "Gene" by his family, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Berkley) Gaddis, on April 13, 1963. They shared nearly 56 years of cherished memories before her passing on February 17, 2019.
A proud veteran, Gene served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956, later dedicating over 40 years of his life to working for a metal plating company. After the loss of his beloved "Lou," he moved to Arizona, where he continued to embrace life with the same warmth and resilience that defined his character.
Gene is survived by his three children: Robin Barton of Hendersonville, Tennessee; Timothy Gaddis (Deena) of Buckeye, Arizona; and Christopher Gaddis (Michelle) of Ooltewah, Tennessee. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Heather, Jessica, Marissa, Katlyn, Haley, Jacob, Brandon, and Erica, as well as four great-grandchildren: Kayden, Shane Jr., Jameson, and Mason.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary, his parents, his brothers Wayne and Thomas Gaddis, his son-in-law Royce (Ken) Barton, and his great-grandson Hunter White.
Gene's legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will be forever remembered by his family and all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
