Mrs. Roxanne “Roxy” Smith, 68 of Goodyear, Arizona died January 7, 2022 in Goodyear, Arizona after a battle with cancer. She was born August 13, 1953 in Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Herbert J. Marsh and Mary E. Marsh during Hurricane Barbara.
Roxanne loved music and sports. She was involved in playing sports at a young age and was competitive through high school and into her college years with football, basketball and softball. Her teams made it serval times to Regionals and State Championships. She also sang in choir through high school and played the piano, trumpet, french horn and the clarinet.
Roxanne started her 51 year career in healthcare as a candy striper at 17 years old. She worked in many capacities as a Certified Nurse Assistant; in convalescent homes and assisted living facilities, medical-surgery department at the hospital, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) department at the hospital, and in private residence. Roxanne attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho; Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California and San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California.
She also received certifications in Pharmacy Technician and Medical Assisting. She enjoyed caring for others and did so throughout her life. She enjoyed animals, spending time with her family and playing or watching sports (Go Panthers!).
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children Donna M. Shadden of Goodyear, Arizona; Stacy Smith of Modesto, California; Tracy Hoge of Escalon, California and Faith Harmon of Saint David, Arizona. Her siblings Kirk Marsh of Fairfax, Virginia; Brian Marsh of Bakersfield, California; Shauna Smith of Gilbert, Arizona and Daphne Harley of South Jordan, Utah. Along with eight grandchildren: Tyler Shadden, Kurtis Shadden, Charles Lane, Alex Smith, Paisley Harmon, Colton Harmon, Alison Hoge and Dillin Hoge. She is preceded in death by Herbert J. Marsh, father; Mary E. (Tensmeyer) Marsh, mother; Elmer A. Smith, Jr., spouse; Scott Marsh, brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. Saturday January 29, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 221 Church Hill Road, San Andreas. Burial will be at Double Springs Cemetery, Valley Springs.
