Mr. Martin Martinez, 56, of Avondale, Arizona died January 18, 2022 in Goodyear, Arizona. He was born August 1, 1965 in Fairview, New Mexico. He is survived by his son Kevin Martinez, daughter-in-law Amy Martinez, granddaughter, Eliana Martinez, sister Lori Tafoya, and nephews Chris, Jerold, and Phil Tafoya and Greg and Erik Martinez. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Martinez, and his brothers Jimmy and Tommy Martinez.
Martin was a distinguished member of the United States Army, where he served his country from 1983 to 1989. He became a painting contractor in New Mexico and Florida and specialized in residential projects as well as commercial buildings. His energy could make the most arduous tasks seem easy and enjoyable. As a man passionate about God and the Holy Bible, he spent his life spreading the Word and helping others in any way he could, whether it was generously giving money, offering his painting services for free, or simply extending cheer with a good joke. He also relished being outdoors in nature, loved to fish everywhere he could. His favorite fishing spot was in the San Juan River in New Mexico where he would spend weeks at a time fly fishing, testing out new fly patterns he tied himself. After moving to Arizona, he bought his dream car, a Dodge Viper and would take it to any car show around so he could “share it with the world.” But mostly, he loved his family and was an amazing grandfather. He was VERY excited to be a grandpa and she loved the endless activities he would come up with. Anything from taking her rain boots so they could run through puddles, or grabbing a drum while Eliana held a baton in order to lead their marching band, or setting up a little obstacle course in the backyard, he made the most of every moment.
