Frank Howard McCutcheon Jr., age 71, of Laveen, AZ passed away on May 11, 2020 in Glendale, AZ. Frank, Sonny as he was known to his family growing up, was the oldest of seven. He was born in Ashland, Wisconsin and grew up on a dairy farm outside of Bayfield, where he learned the value of hard work from an early age.
In high school Frank played on the basketball and baseball teams as well as running track and cross country. He proudly served first in the Air Force, followed by the Air Force Reserve and then the Army Reserve. He was a man who lived his life on his own terms and never quit. Frank set out on an adventure and moved his family from Wisconsin to Grays Harbor Washington. Later he and Margaret, his wife, moved again only this time to Arizona.
Frank was a great mechanic and an avid race enthusiast. His booming voice and laugh always filled the room he was in, no one was a stranger. Frank learned many lessons throughout his life the hard way, so he always had something to teach and he was going to tell you, he always had a story or experience to share. He always tried to find time for his family despite how hard he worked. He was as honest and hardworking as they come and had the same expectation of those around him. He helped everyone he could and always tried to do right by others. He was well liked and respected by friends and associates and loved by his family.
Frank is survived by his wife Margaret L. McCutcheon; his children and their spouses: Jacqueline Lynn McCutcheon (Robert Dameron), Frank H. “Chucky” McCutcheon III (Teresa), Shawn D. McCutcheon (Becky), Bradley J. McCutcheon (Heidi); his siblings and their spouses: Alice Kunsman and Pamala Anderson (Kenneth), Donald McCutcheon (Brenda), Guy McCutcheon (Chris), Bruce McCutcheon (Debbie), Rodney J. McCutcheon; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth McCutcheon Sr. and his sister-in-law, Linda McCutcheon.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on May 27th at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear, AZ.
