Maria Guadalupe Lovegrove, 71 peacefully went to her Lord on May 9, 2016 with her family present at her bedside at her home in Buckeye, AZ from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born December 10, 1944 to Guillermo and Elena Ramirez in Laredo, TX where she was raised. As an adult, she was a long-time resident of Haysville and Bel Aire, KS. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse, starting her nursing career in the world of babies and then working with the elderly. She loved helping people anyway that she could. She was a certified Spanish Medical interpreter for the State of Kansas, earning citations for her work combating diabetes in the Hispanic community.
Maria is survived by her husband of fifty years, Jim; sons, James (Lurina) and Michael; granddaughter, Shelby; grandson, Cole; sisters, Christina Sanchez, Elena (Gerald) Blomstedt, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Guillermo Ramirez.
A visitation will be held at 5:30 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ. A mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at St Thomas Aquinas, 13720 W Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ. Interment will be at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
The family suggests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Kansas Chapter, 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214.
