Todd "Eeyore" Frederick Dittmer, age 45 of Goodyear, AZ passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with ALS Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was born April 7, 1971 in Lowell, MA the son of Walt and Helen (nee Pletch) Dittmer. He attended Louisiana State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and then commissioning as an officer. He obtained the rank of Lieutenant before being diagnosed with ALS for which he was medically retired from military duty. Todd served 15 years in the Air Force as a Weapons Director and Air Battle Manager, and was deployed in support of Operations Allied Force and Southern Watch, and served on many other duties as an Air Defense Operations expert. Todd was a great mentor and leader to many of his fellow Airman. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed spending time listening to music, traveling, and being outdoors with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mignon and his two daughters Mackenzie and Mollie of Goodyear, AZ, his mother Helen Campbell, his sister Ashley (Jordy) Jungwirth of Oshkosh, WI, his brothers Michael (Casey) Dittmer of Roseville, CA, and Christopher Dittmer of San Francisco, CA, his uncles Gary Dittmer of St. Charles, IL and Dennis Dittmer of Urbana, IL. He is also survived by his cousins along with several nieces and nephews.
Todd is preceded in death by his father Walt Dittmer and stepfather Frank Campbell.
A memorial service is being planned for December in Arizona. The family suggests that donations be made to the ALS Association or Hospice of the Valley.
