Margaret Ellen Vermillion Ruehrmund, age 82 of Litchfield Park, AZ died February 9, 2020, in Litchfield Park, AZ. She was born August 24, 1937, in Sunbury, OH, the oldest of four children born to William and Mary McKay Vermillion. Margaret grew up in Marengo, OH and graduated from Marengo High School in 1955 and obtained a nursing degree from Grant Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years and worked at the VA Hospital in Phoenix for 28 years.
Family was everything to Margaret and they always came first. She accompanied her husband, Paul throughout his military career living in Massachusetts, Arkansas, New York, and Ontario, Canada, with the only exception being his tour of Vietnam. They finally settled in Litchfield Park in 1976. Vacations were always a family affair and included children, then grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. They visited exotic places like Hawaii, Hilton Head, SC, Florida, and Mexico. She loved Sedona, AZ. But they also spent many vacations just visiting family in Ohio. She always reunited with her nursing school classmates from Grant when she came home to Ohio. She liked to sew, but her favorite pastime was cooking and entertaining her family in her home. She loved people no matter who they were or what situations they found themselves in. She was an unselfish giver of her heart to her family, friends, and profession. She had great faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Paul Ruehrmund; daughter, Denise Summit; sons, Robert and Richard Ruehrmund; sister, Martha Conley, brother, Dave Vermillion; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and beloved daughter, Diana Mikolic, who tragically passed away two days after Margaret. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Vermillion, and sister Mary French.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 830 E Plaza Cir, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340.
