Doris Brown Cannon, 92, died May 17, 2022 in Avondale, AZ. She was born August 26, 1929 in Cedar City, UT to John Middleton and Althea Lund Brown. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Frankfurt, GA in 1951. Doris married Clawson Young Cannon, Jr. on January 13, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 60 years when Clawson passed. She attended the College of Southern Utah, University of Utah, before graduating from BYU in 1954. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served for many years in the Primary. She and Clawson also served a stake mission in Newark, NJ, a mission in the Bern, Swiss Temple and as workers in the Dallas, TX temple.
Doris is survived by her children Judith (Wayne “Ray”), Clawson, III “Chip” (Cynthia), Carlie (Daven), Jonathan (Diane), and Jason; 12 grandchildren: Wayne (Courtney), Jacob (Angie), Connie, Collins (Shantel), Philip (Michelle), Allan (Staci), Zachary, Hunter, Saige, Ethan, Kyle, and Joshua; 5 greatgrandchildren, Wayne Richard, Anthony, Bobby, Austin, and Kaylee, brothers and sisters John (Mary), David (Nora), Lorin (Marilynn), Scott (Penny), Virginia (John), and Cheryl (Ken), and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clawson, parents, sister Donna, and brothers, Tom (Carol), and William (Karen).
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3882 Quail Run Road, Flower Mound, TX 75028. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the same address. Interment will be at the Dallas National Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or LDS Charities or plant flowers in her honor (she loved roses, begonias, chrysanthemums, and cannas). Arrangements are through Thompson Funeral Chapel, Goodyear, AZ and Flower Mound Funeral Home.
