David Richard Thurston Jr.

David Thurston, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 57 on April 10th, 2025. Raised in Cashion, Arizona, David was born on June 21, 1967 in Avondale, the cherished son of Shirley Ann Thurston and David Richard Thurston, growing up alongside his three siblings.

David married the love of his life, Sandra Thurston, and together they shared 30 wonderful years of marriage, building a family that was the cornerstone of his life. As a father to five children, David was known for his boundless love and unwavering support. He had a special way of making each of his grandchildren feel treasured, often sharing snacks and stories that made each moment memorable. His influence extended beyond his own children, as he was a father figure to many others—always ready to lend a hand, offer guidance, or simply share his wisdom.

David’s heart was full of adventure and kindness. He was always the first to offer help to those in need, never hesitating to put others before himself. His life was guided by a set of values that he lived by every day: “Family first, be strong, and never give up.” These words were not just a mantra — they were a reflection of the strength, love, and resilience that defined him.

David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, generosity, and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A visitation for David will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 South Litchfield Road, Goodyear, Arizona 85338, followed by a funeral service at 6:30 PM.
