A life beautifully lived, full of adventure and spirit—Craig John Maguire was a true warrior in every sense. Sadly, he passed away on August 3, 2024, after a courageous battle lasting over four years.
Craig’s vibrant life began in El Segundo, CA, where the beach was his sanctuary and where his boundless curiosity and deep thinking were first nurtured. His leadership qualities emerged early as he served as student body president in high school, setting the stage for his future endeavors. Craig attended Loyola Marymount University from 1967 to 1971, where he forged lifelong bonds with his fraternity brothers in Delta Sigma Phi, and earned the nickname “Captain Levi.”
Professionally, Craig’s journey spanned diverse fields, from working in the bicycle industry to founding a successful real estate career in Redding, CA, in 1992. Alongside his wife Carol, he built a renowned real estate team, “Real Estate by Craig & Carol,” and later expanded with ERA Select Properties. Under his guidance, their business flourished. His leadership continued as ERA Select Properties merged with Coldwell Banker C & C Properties in 2010. His company had two offices and 40 agents. His Tuesday morning office meetings always put forward his message of: “Pay it forward!” In his classes for goal setting, his main message was always, “If you write it down, you’ll do it.”
Craig’s passion extended beyond his career. He and Carol spent over 25 years house boating on Lake Shasta with close friends and family, creating cherished memories. His granddaughters, Makena Grace and Kylie Jade, were the light of his life. Craig’s quick wit and endless affection brought joy to their lives.
Traveling was another of Craig’s great loves. His adventures in Oaxaca, Mexico, with Carol, fraternity brothers, and new friends were filled with cultural immersion and delight. Craig's proficiency in Spanish, honed through four years of Latin in college, further enriched these experiences.
In retirement, Craig and Carol found peace in Goodyear, Arizona where they embraced the warmth and tranquility of their surroundings.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the City of Hope and the Cancer Treatment Center of America for their compassionate care. Craig’s life was a beautiful journey of adventure and international exploration, and though he is gone, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts. His legacy of joy, wisdom, and love will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Our Love. You will be dearly missed and always remembered. What a beautiful ride!
