Thomas E. Bryant, Sr. of Avondale, Arizona passed away October 4, 2023 at the age of 84. He was born August 29, 1939 in Flat Top, Alabama to the late Jasper and Katie (Duncan) Bryant. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jasper Bryant, Jr.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years – Lynette Bryant; son, Thomas E. (Dee) Bryant, Jr.; sisters Levora Sparks, Teresa Fulford, Vera Brown, Aurelia (Edward) Clay, Atrie (Willie) Robinson, and Beatrice Bryant; brother Alonzo (Justine) Bryant; and God-Children Natasha (Kenneth) Ratliff and Leonard T. Posey. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Matthew Ratliff, William Ratliff, and Abrielle Ratliff as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Thomas knew at a young age that he wanted to walk the Path of Life with God by his side. He joined the St. Paul AME in Adamsville, Alabama at a young age. He moved to Chicago to join the Greater Walters AME Church. When he moved to Arizona, he united with Skyway Church where he was a member until his passing.
Thomas graduated from Westfield High School and attended Alabama State College. He joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia. In 1961, Thomas married his high school sweetheart, Lynette. Together, they raised their son Thomas E. Bryant, Jr. in God’s graces.
Thomas retired from Inland Steel as a Metallurgical Engineer. He and Lynette loved to travel and spend time with their family, friends, and church. He was a faithful servant of God who was active in church and community service. He was kind to all he met, no matter their circumstances in life. He loved people, life in general, but especially his wife and son.
Thomas’s passing leaves a gaping hole in our lives. But we know he is with the Lord and that brings us some peace.
