Benjamin Franklin Carson, age 74 died October 9, 2017 in Avondale, AZ. He was born December 6, 1942 in Orangeburg, SC to Julius Carson and Ethel Williams Carson. He served twenty years from July 16, 1970 – July 31, 1990 in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant/Machinist. His commendations are as follows: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon.
Benjamin is survived by his daughter, Summer Carson and granddaughter, Sumaya. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Carson. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
