Almarene Marie Kratz, 94, of Goodyear, AZ died June 7, 2014 in Goodyear, AZ of Pneumonia. She was born January 1, 1920 to Julius and Elia Schiller in Bridgewater, Michigan. She served in the US Army and US Air Force as a Captain. She was an RN on a hospital ship during WWII; transported iron lung patients from Cuba and from China to the US . She was the nursing supervisor at Maricopa Medical Center for 20+ years. She retired from nursing at the Phoenix VAMC. She is survived by her niece and nephew, Deborah and Kevin Schiller. She was preceded in death by Lloyd William Schiller and Loren Julius Schiller. A visitation will be held from 9am to 10am, service at10am, on Tuesday, June 17th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
