He was a gifted and talented self-taught wood-worker and antique restorer. He made numerous plaques for graduation and wedding gifts for many; over many, many years. Some have told his family they still have these gifts. He had restored numerous antique pieces. He and Shirley both shared a love for antiques. They had a booth for many years at the Hermitage Antique Mall. They would also set up monthly at the Nashville Fairgrounds Flea Market, where Shirley would make her delicious brownies to sell and those would also draw potential buyers back to their booth.
Tommy had a love and keen eye for photography. With many photos published in magazines over the years. You would always see him with a camera in his hand snapping some of the most beautiful and unique photos.
He loved to cook, grill, work outdoors, travel and playing Rook. He loved the outdoors, doing many hikes and camping trips all over the Smokey Mountains with friends and family such as with Marion Claibourne, the late John Claibourne Sr. and Wilber Wright. Tommy and these men would say however, the most memorable times for them were the conversations around the campfires at Duck River.
Tommy's family would like to thank the White House Health Care nurses, staff and Administration, who were amazing and grew close to Tommy during his stay there. Also, many thanks to the nurses, social worker and chaplain of Adoration Hospice. They did an amazing job in caring for and keeping Tommy comfortable, as well as, being a support for his family.
