Sarah Martha Rice

Sarah M. Rice, age 92, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014. Born Saturday, December 31, 1921, she is preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Evelyn and Henry Hutchins Jennings; son, Larry Neil Rice; sisters, Augusta Wright, Lillie Mai Martin; brother, Henry Jennings.

During her working career, Mrs. Rice worked at Genesco Shoes, Bill Crook’s Food Town, K-Mart and Sumner County School Cafeteria. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary.

Mrs. Rice is survived by her husband of 69 years, Everett N. Rice; daughter, Cheryl (Jimmy) Overstreet; son, David (Kaye) Rice; sister, Mary Evelyn Kizer; 6 grandchildren, Stacy (Edwin) Dampier, Jason(Becky) Davis, Mandy Dee (Glenn) Torrell, Kristi Moon, Thomas Rice, Wendy (Chris) Speck; and 9 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Colton, Tyler, Kaylin, Maddie, Emma, Morgan, Katie and Jacob.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at graveside in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will gather at a visitation Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 11:00 until the 1:00 service in Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
