Ronald Eugene Black, age 80, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Ronald was born Friday, October 22, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. He preceded in death by parents, Claude Godwin and Edna Olive Robinson Black, wife, Dorothy Ann "Dot" Black.
A graduate of Cumberland High School and the University of Tennessee, Ron was a volunteer in the Vietnam War in the US Navy and served one tour of duty. He was honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer. Ron then enlisted in the US Army National Guard of Tennessee and served over 20 years. Ron received many commendations during his service in the US Military. His patriotism continued after his service years as he volunteered to provide free tax preparation for veterans and their families during Operation Desert Storm. He also worked with the IRS and the LaVergne City Police Department. He was a great provider for his family. He was likable and a wonderful friend. He was kind to his colleagues and people he did not know.
He is survived by his wife Linda and daughter Jennifer.
Family and friends will gather to remember Ronald at a visitation Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM, in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
