Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Goodlettsville High School. He married the love of his life, Glenda Binkley, in 1962. They started a family and he became "the best daddy in the world" to Beverly and Karen. He worked many years as a linotype operator and eventually started his own business. He was a hard worker always making sure his family was provided for.
Everyone who knew Jerry loved him. He was always helping others. He was a long time member of Goodlettsville Church of Christ. His strong faith in God shined through by his example. He loved his family and friends and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.
He loved traveling, fishing, farming and golfing. He was a huge Vanderbilt fan and enjoyed attending their football, baseball and basketball games. One of the greatest joys of his life was his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.
Jerry is preceded in death by Glenda, his loving wife of 55 years; his parents John and Pearlie Spurlock; brothers Waymon and Marshall Spurlock; sisters Louise Smithson and Judy Pass. He is survived by daughters Beverly Lane and Karen (David) Wrye; grandchildren Meagan Lane, Samantha (Caleb) Ford, Devin (Natalie) Wrye, Drennan Wrye; great-grandchild Hadley Wrye; sister Betty (Robert) Drake, along with several nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by all.
Due to COVID, a funeral service will be held graveside Thursday, Dec.10 at 2:00 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1150 S. Dickerson Pike, Nashville. All are welcome.
