George Hampton Bloodworth, age 83, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Nashville, he is preceded in death by parents, James Erby and Bess Kemp Bloodworth and wife Betty.
He was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. He served in the US Air Force, stationed in Guam during the Korean War. He and Betty built a thriving photography studio, Bloodworth Photography, in the Nashville area. George photographed tens of thousands of area high school seniors, weddings, generations of families and, his specialty, children, for over 30 years. He was a member of the Professional Photographers Association and earned their highest merits, Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman. He and Betty were authorities on children’s photography and well-regarded and sought-after national speakers on the topic. Together, they also developed Children’s Photographers International, an educational organization teaching photographers the art of children’s photography. Most recently, he had come out of retirement to become a customer representative for their long-time photographic lab, sharing his expertise with start-up photographers.
