HUDSON, FELIX HARVEY – Age 83, of Nashville, Tennessee. Born February 22, 1929 in Ft. White, Florida; died June 15, 2012 at home in Nashville. Preceded in death by parents, William Felix and Valita Rice Hudson; siblings Cecil Hudson, Morris Hudson, Rex Hudson, Euley Hudson, Myrtle Hudson, and Doris Fitzgerald. H e is survived by his wife, Beatrice Taylor Hudson; daughters Gaye Hudson and Deborah Mauldin (Steve); grandson Eric Mauldin; granddaughter Lisa Crowder (Ty); and siblings Kenneth Hudson (Carolyn), Vep Hudson (Zella), Alice Hatcher, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Hudson attended Lee College (University) and graduated from Oglethorpe University. He retired from Metro Schools serving as a guidance counselor at Joelton and Whites Creek High Schools. Since his teenage years music has played an important role in his life, from singing in gospel quartets to teaching singing schools to directing church choirs. For seventeen years he directed the choir for the Easter Sunrise services at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. He served in other areas of church ministry for over 65 years, and was the Minister of Pastoral Care at Broadmoor Church of God Family Worship Center in Nashville. He was known for having the heart of a servant and a compassionate spirit, and offering encouragement and support even in the direst of times. He treated everyone with mercy and grace, respect and dignity, regardless of their station in life, truly understanding the Scripture instructing us to treat others the way we would want to be treated. He learned early in life that it was much more blessed to give than to receive, and that in giving he would always receive more than he gave. He lived the life described in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” (KJV) The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeffrey Infante and the staff at Tennessee Oncology and Sarah Cannon Cancer Research Center for their care and compassion during Mr. Hudson’s 41/2 year battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Nashville Rescue Mission or to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Research Center. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 19, at 2:00 pm with visitation Monday from 3:00 – 9:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00 am until service at Broadmoor Family Worship Center, 215 Broadmoor Drive, Nashville, TN 37207.
