She is survived by numerous relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by husband, George E. Talbert and several family members.
Dr. Talbert was a retired teacher after spending 48 years in the Metro Nashville School system. She continued to teach adults to read, as her hobby, after retirement.
She held a BS degree from Austin Peay State University, A.M.S. Degree from George Peabody College and a Ph D from Peabody College of Vanderbilt. Dr. Talbert had done additional study at Oxford University, Oxford, England. She held membership in many organizations including, Delta Kappa Gamma, Claiborne Chapter OES, MNRTA and life membership in P.R.A. She was a member of the Madison Church of Christ.
Dr. Talbert made outstanding contributions in the field of education. She was recognized as a contributing editor to a special Mac Millian/McGrace Hill K-6 science activity book series, Science in "Your World", she was selected as a "leader of American Elementary Educators" in recognition of contributions to the advancement of elementary education and service to the community. She was chosen as Stratton School first "teacher of the year".
A visitation for Ernestine will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072, followed by a a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alive Hospice in Dr. Talbert's memory.
